BRIDGES

The bridge replaces one or more teeth. It is attached to the patient’s own teeth or to dental implants. The mouth recovers its functionality and aesthetics, guaranteeing the patient total comfort and correct hygiene.

In order to have a dental bridge attached to the patient’s own teeth, these must be healthy and strong.

Artedental has specific machinery and Cad-Cam design and manufacturing procedures to offer the best results in terms of fit and aesthetics.

Cemented dental bridges

The sleeves of these prostheses are placed on the so-called abutment teeth. To do this, the adjacent teeth have to be ground down so that they can be inserted into the caps while retaining their full size.

The grinding is carried out in a first appointment, after the diagnosis, where we also choose the colour of the bridge caps, matching them to the colour of our teeth, especially if the bridge is in the smile area. As ground teeth are more sensitive, a temporary bridge will be fitted.

At the second appointment, the definitive bridge will be fitted. And once the specialist has verified the fit, appearance and comfort of the patient, the provisional bridge is cemented.

Once we have verified that the patient has recovered functionality, the bridge is permanently cemented.

Dental bridges on implants

A dental bridge on implants replaces the absence of at least three teeth in a row. If you are missing a single tooth, we can replace it with a dental implant with its crown.

  • First the implants are placed, which will be used to hold the dental bridge in place.
  • Subsequently, measurements are taken so that the prosthetic laboratory can make the bridge following the anatomy of the patient’s mouth and taking into account the placement of the implants. The colour of the prosthesis is also determined so that it resembles the colour of the patient’s teeth.
  • Finally, once the osseointegration period of the implants is over, the bridge is attached to the implants.
Frequently asked questions

If the bridge is designed and fitted by an experienced specialist who cares about aesthetics as well as functionality, it won’t show.

15 years or much longer if…

…if we take care of our dental hygiene and be careful with hard foods, if we don’t use our teeth (in this case the bridge) as a tool, don’t nibble on objects, take care of our gums….

When we place a bridge on implants it is not necessary to grind down the neighbouring teeth and, furthermore, the implant helps to minimise the loss of maxillary bone.

However, each case is different and it should be the implantology specialist who evaluates the different alternatives for our particular case.
